English as a Second Language Week Poster Contest 2008 |
|
|
Dear ESL Colleague; TESL Ontario is pleased to announce that once again ESL Week will be recognized in cities, towns and communities across the province from November 9 to 15, 2008. Last year 19 municipalities were involved and we are expecting more in 2008 "The International Year of Languages” as declared by UNESCO. ESL Week marks a time to celebrate the work and efforts of ESL learners and professionals in Ontario. This letter is an invitation to all ESL communities to participate in a poster contest to celebrate ESL Week 2008. Attached you will find the Poster Contest Guidelines for your review. We are asking that you disseminate this information to all your schools or centres and encourage them to participate. We are thrilled to have secured permission to display submissions in the Rotunda of Toronto City Hall from November 12 to 15, which coincides with the 36th Annual Conference at the Sheraton Centre Hotel. The posters will be adjudicated by a panel of judges and the grand winner awarded a cash prize of $300 with three runner-up prizes of $100 each. The four winning posters will be featured both in the conference program and at the conference itself. We are very excited about this poster contest. We believe that your contribution will help raise awareness of and acknowledge the important role that ESL plays in our communities and the lives of new Canadians. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions. You can reach us at administration@teslontario.org or at 416-593-4243. We look forward to receiving the posters. Sincerely, Sheila Carson |
