Explore, Protect and Celebrate Nature

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority was established in 1957 to manage the natural resources of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Today, it is a leader in the protection and regeneration of urban rivers, lakes, streams, wetlands and forests.

The authority relies on community support and participation to accomplish its important environmental work. It offers a great diversity of services, products and programs to ESL instructors and students, including the following:

  • environmental slide presentation created with new Canadians in mind
  • Green Bingo and Watershed Bingo (games we can play in the classroom)
  • posters and literature in different languages
  • guided nature walks through local parks and ravines (all through the year - something different to see each time)
  • Yellow Fish Road Program, which is designed to inform people about the movement of water through towns and cities and the proper disposal of household hazardous waste
  • Aquatic Plants Program, which guides students in the propagation of native aquatic plants for restoration purposes

Please call the Community Stewardship Technician at (416) 661-6600, ext. 5394 for more information or to book an event with your ESL class.
