Rosedale Academy is a global online high school operated by Rosedale International Education Inc. We offer an Ontario education to students abroad, primarily through partnerships with local schools. Rosedale is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education and offers secondary school credits and complete Ontario Secondary School Diplomas.
Powered from a centralized hub in Markham (Toronto), Rosedale leverages a robust online platform, differentiated instructional practice, a systematic approach to essential skills development, and standardized academic operations, preparing our students for higher education and life-long success.
Excellent ESL instruction is the foundation of the Rosedale program and the success of our students. We follow the Ontario secondary school ESL curriculum to prepare our students for further study across other disciplines in the Ontario curriculum or for study at post-secondary institutions around the world. Rosedale instruction relies on a blend of face-to-face instruction on our partner campuses and a range of technologies, including our online conferencing platform, and online course materials, including interactive tools and activities, delivered on our customised Moodle learning management system.
We are currently building a new set of online ESL learning resources to support our students and teachers, while continuing to expand our student base and our community of partner schools.
We are seeking an ESL expert to take a lead role in supporting our teachers, providing online instruction and building highly effective new instrucational resources. The Program Manager - ESL will work under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, while working closely with the Principal of Rosedale Academy.
Qualifications and Requirements:
" Lead instructional practice and drive instructional excellence through guiding regular training of Rosedale ESL teachers and ESL teachers from our partner schools
" Assist in leading and collaborating with a group of freelance writers, editors and instructional designers to develop engaging and effective online learning resources to address the Ontario secondary ESL curriculum
" Contribute directly to the resource development process as a writer
" Lead program evaluation and continuous improvement processes
" Teach ESL courses to students on the Rosedale video conferencing platform
" Provide trial lessons to potential students and learning partners
" Guide language proficiency placements for incoming students
" Provide support to operations and marketing to launch and maintain Rosedale's ESL programs
" Troubleshoot issues and concerns as they arise
" B Ed or M Ed.
" Formal ESL teaching qualifications - TESL, AQs or other
" Rich knowledge in ESL education-- at least 6 years of ESL teaching experience, including deep experience instructing high school-aged students
" 3 years ESL curriculum development experience
" Experienced in teacher training and instructional excellence evaluation
" Experience with digital resources and technology (Moodle or other LMSs) for curriculum development and instruction
" Creative, innovative and passionate about English language learning
" Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
" Superior verbal and written communication skills
" Ontario College of Teachers certification, helpful
" Experience teaching ESL abroad, helpful
