The international English language testing system (IELTS) is a test developed by the world’s leading experts in language assessment on four key English language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

It is designed to assess the language ability of people who aim to study and work in, immigrate to and integrate into an English-speaking environment.

George Brown is looking for experienced ESL teachers/instructors to join the IELTS Test Centre team as Speaking Examiners. We are looking for examiners who are willing and able to examine at testing venues throughout Ontario (https://www.georgebrown.ca/ielts/location_and_dates/)

Testing takes place on Saturdays and occasionally Sundays, 1-2 times per month.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • To conduct IELTS speaking interviews to IELTS standards at our test locations throughout Ontario.
  • To adhere to all IELTS standards regarding Training, (Re-) certification and Monitoring
  • To adhere to all IELTS standards regarding confidentiality and security
  • To maintain and enhance the integrity of IELTS at all times
  • To contribute to the ongoing development of IELTS
Qualifications: 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Degree:
a. An undergraduate degree or qualification(s) that can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree
And
2) TESL Certification:
a. A TEFL/TESOL qualification from a recognized institution (at minimum certificate level) or:
b. EFL/ESOL related studies completed as part of an undergraduate/post-graduate award course from a recognized institution (minimum certificate level equivalent) or:
c. A degree in Education (if supported by an undergraduate degree which includes studies focused on English language at point 1 above)
And
A minimum of three years full-time relevant teaching experience (or equivalent part-time). Full-time teaching is classified as a minimum of 14 hours of face-to-face teaching per week. The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).
Other Requirements.

Examiners must be the equivalent of a band 9 – Expert user IELTS score. This is an essential requirement for all examiners. Applicants may be asked to take the full IELTS Academic test at any time based on their resume, application form, performance in an interview, or during the training (if selected) at their expense.
