We are looking for an experienced Trainer to teach our in-class TESOL Methodology and Pedagogical Grammar classes as part of our part-time TESOL Certificate. Each class is five weeks in length and meets Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:30 pm. The next class begins at the beginning of May.
We are also looking for experienced English or ESL teachers who are interested in becoming IELTS Speaking Examiners. Testing takes place at our North and Lakeshore campuses. Speaking Examiners will work Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons when the IELTS test is scheduled, but can also be asked to work during the week if available to do so.
The TESOL Trainer will prepare and deliver classes based on the preexisting course outline and TESL Canada and TESL Ontario accreditation standards. They are also responsible for the assessment of students as per the method of evaluation for each of the courses.
IELTS Speaking Examiners:
To conduct IELTS speaking interviews at the IELTS standards
To adhere to all IELTS standards regarding Training, (Re-) certification and monitoring
To adhere to all IELTS standards regarding confidentiality and security
To maintain and enhance the integrity of IELTS at all times
- Must be TESL Ontario certified with over 2000 hours of teaching experience in an adult ESL classroom.
- Experience as a TESL Trainer is required.
- A Masters degree in a related discipline is preferred.
IELTS Speaking Examiners
An undergraduate degree or qualification(s) that can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree
A TEFL/TESOL qualification from a recognized institution (at minimum certificate level of 120 hours)
EFL/ESOL related studies completed as part of an undergraduate/post-graduate award course from a recognized institution (minimum certificate level equivalent)
- A degree in Education (if supported by an undergraduate degree which includes studies focused on English language
A minimum of three years full-time relevant teaching experience (or equivalent part-time). Full-time teaching is classified as a minimum of 14 hours of face-to-face teaching per week. The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).
Examiners must be the equivalent of a band 9 – Expert user IELTS score. This is an essential requirement for all examiners. Applicants may be asked to take the full IELTS Academic test at any time based on their resume, application form, performance in an interview, or during the training (if selected) at their expense.
