Reading in ESL Mini Conference

Reading in ESL Session Speakers:
 
Rita Leithead, the ESL Consultant for Ontario for Pearson Longman-Penguin Readers, will be presenting on how to use the Penguin Series in the ESL classroom at all levels.
 
Marg Fannon, a recently retired ESL Specialist in Adult Literacy, spent 17 years with the Waterloo Region District School Board will be presenting on reading skills in the ESL classroom.
 
Samuel Sheinberg, the ESL Software Consultant for NAS, will be presenting reading software that is presently being used across Canada in ESL classrooms. Come and see how to incorporate CALL (computer assisted language learning) in your lessons.
 
Stephanie Ledger partnered with Kay Cairns, the ESL/ELD Resource Teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board, will be presenting on how to start a dual language book club and the benefits of multilingual learning at all levels of language learning.
 
Elsie Gerber and Phyllis Bishop, ELS Professors at the Conestoga Language Institute, will be presenting on the use of reading portfolios and vocabulary word banks in the ESL classroom.
 
Maggie Heeney, an ESL Professor at Renison University College, will be presenting her Collaborative Awareness Reading Training (CART) reading strategy system for the second language reading classroom. Maggie is currently working on her PhD in connecting reading to second language writing proficiency.
