Sheila CarsonSheila Carson is employed with the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) as a Coordinator and is responsible for the Adult ESL/LINC and the International (Heritage) Language Programs. She has been involved in the field of Adult ESL since 1992, for many years in the classroom, and later as Lead ESL/LINC Instructor, prior to assuming the administrative position in 2002. Joanne HincksJoanne Hincks has been involved in education for her whole career and has taught all ages from preschool to seniors. For seven years, she and her family lived in southern Africa where Joanne worked as a course writer for the Lesotho Distance Teaching Centre and as a teacher at an international elementary school. Upon her return to Toronto in the early 1990s, she began teaching English as a Second Language to adults. More...

 

 

Velma LangSince 1990, Velma Lang has served newcomers as a LINC/ESL teacher, program coordinator, language assessor, CLARS Coordinator and Newcomer Information Centre advisor in the Niagara Region. Her activities included TESL Niagara representative to TESL Ontario, TESL Niagara president, Hamilton assessor and coordinator, the CLARS Advisory Committee and Ontario Assessment Centre advisory committees and Conference planning committees. All of these have fostered her interests in professional development and mentorship with the goal of strengthening teaching and learning in the ESL community.

She recently retired as CLARS Coordinator after 12 years with the YMCA of Niagara while staying involved with newcomers as an occasional assessor.
